For Apple, the watchword of the year 2020 was “confidentiality”. Indeed, while iOS has already brought a great novelty in favor of the respect of private data, namely these clipboard reading notifications , recently, the App Store has been supplemented with a new section in relation to confidentiality and the use of user data made by each application.

In addition, since yesterday, some iOS users running iOS 14.3, but also 14.2 and 14.4 beta can take advantage of a new feature that has created the debate in recent days, especially between Apple and Facebook. This is because on iPhone or iPad, authorization to use private data is no longer automatic . The operating system now asks the user to accept or decline the tracking of activity done on other apps and websites, a mechanism practiced by various applications, including Facebook.

In addition, in the system settings the user now has access to a new section listing the applications for which this activity tracking permission has been accepted. This list also allows you to cancel any authorization made for an app.

These new features do not seem to be available to all users on iOS 14 for the moment. They are being deployed little by little on the fleet of iPhone and iPad being up to date with the latest version of the OS. At the start of next year, everyone should be able to enjoy it, alongside the release of versions 14.4 of iOS and iPadOS.

Obviously, the practice does not please everyone, including the social network of Mark Zuckerberg, who thinks that the economic impact will be real, especially for small businesses . Apple has defended itself  against the many attacks  in recent days by stressing that it was simply a question of giving the user the choice to share their data.
