Hundreds of Tesla Model Ys roll out of the Shanghai Gigafactory

It appears that the Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai has already started mass production of the Tesla Model Y, as there are hundreds of units in the parking lots outside the factory production buildings.

On the company’s official website, the estimated production start date is listed as the start of 2021, but everything indicates that the first order holders will receive their Model Y very soon.

The Tesla Model Y is increasingly present on the factory test track. Forty cars were seen covered in tarps, and four more are expected to be covered by workers soon.

A video to realize it

YouTube’s latest video, released today, shows hundreds of Model Y’s already located in various corners of the Shanghai Gigafactory.

More than 30 units are parked on the test track and nearby. Twenty more units are on one side of Phase 1, and over 120 units are on the other side.

More than 200 units are also in the parking lot main, where cars are usually parked, which are ready to be loaded onto trucks.

Most cars are covered so we cannot be 100% sure this is Model Y. However, given the general outline of the cars covered, we can safely assume that this is well of model Y.

At this point, it has not yet been reported that order holders in China should prepare to receive their Model Y, but everything suggests it will happen soon.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently said he could return to China in January, responding to a tweet with a photo of the Model Y’s that have just been produced.

This visit will likely be linked to the ceremony in which the first customers will receive their Model Y, although this has not yet been officially announced.
